Positive: PROS: * The location rocks. It is beautiful and vibrant on the quarter with lots of cute niche parks and lots of interesting little things going on in the district. All in all it is very attractive and nice to be there. * The area is mostly very quiet. Friday and Saturday nights do not be tempted to sleep with the ranch slider ajar. You do get the odd Muppets who drive up and down the roads very slowly. Pumping extremely loud music just to try and cause maximum disturbance. With the ranch sliders shut you will barely hear them. * It is a very quick walk over the wynyard crossing into town itself. There is a never-ending plethora of choices for eating out.restairant food in Auckland is very good. * You will get plenty of exercise. And my husband and I were walking anything up to 25,000 steps a day around Auckland. Went out on the ferry over to rangitoto and climbed up to the top of the crater, just lots of good opportunities to remain in motion. Also, plenty of lime scooters and pink flamingo scooters parked up around the place if you want a bit of fun on one of those.
Negative: CONS: * The sofa and the carpets have seen better days and need replacing. * There was only one set of sheets in the place and one very dirty old duvet cover which no one had been using and it had been dumped away dirty in the cupboard. We subsequently washed that and returned it to a little bit of its former glory, but there's only one set of linen which isn't really okay. There should be a change. * The bed was far from comfortable. We woke up most days with sore shoulders and sore rubs. It was hard and lumpy and it's a very heavy mattress that is set into a wooden base and is hard to make the bed also. Not very practical. * The washing machine is a nightmare. You wash it on a wash cycle and then go for either synthetic dry or cotton dry and you can put one sheet and some pillowcases on to dry for 2 and 1/2 hours and they will not dry. It is a very poor system and needs upgrading. A reasonable condenser dryer that can condense its own exhaust moisture would be a good solution for in there. * The vacuum barely goes. It is a tiny little electrolux car vacuum on a slightly bigger frame and it has been given a very hard life and it has no suction left. My husband spent an hour stripping the spindle with the brushes out of it and removing all the clogged disgusting dust and here that had choked the whole thing up. We hoped that would fix it and be a solution but it was not. It just has no real suction it needs upgrading. * The uplifting of keys on ingress to the apartment is actually not very practical, especially not if there is an Auckland rainy afternoon such as it was when we arrived in from Darwin. We were running around on Madden Street trying to find the keys. I had not had much luck with the onboarding document, which by the way there is quite a bit there to read and when I go on holiday I don't want to research a PDF file. I just want to know that my keys are going to be there and they're easy to get.
